Acclaimed Nollywood Filmmaker Oluseyi Asurf prepares to unveil his latest project, titled Iyaloja, in cinemas nationwide. With a vibrant festival-themed poster, an ensemble cast that bridges generations of Nigerian storytelling, and its promotional tagline, a lot of drama should be expected to unfold.
In many Yoruba settings, the Iyaloja is not just a trader but a powerful matriarchal figure who commands influence, respect, and control over market affairs. The movie title Iyaloja translates to mother of the market, hinting at a narrative deeply embedded in traditions, community dynamics, and authority.
Director Oluseyi Asurf has built a reputation for telling grounded, emotionally resonant stories, and Iyaloja looks to continue that route. With production led by Chris Odeh, the film promises a polished cinematic experience that combines visual spectacle with meaningful storytelling.
The movie features an impressive cast lineup, including Nollywood veterans such as Ngozi Nwosu, Faithia Balogun, and Tina Mba, as well as Kehinde Bankole, Wale Ojo, and Iyabo Ojo.
With its promotional tagline ” The Party is just getting started”, compelling premise, culturally rich foundation, and powerhouse cast, Iyaloja is poised to be more than just another Nollywood release, its shaping up to be a cultural moment.
The film will be distributed by film distribution and is set for a Nationwide cinemas release on May 29th, 2026.
