Agbara Nla: The Return is a sequel to Agbara Nla, created and directed in 1993 by Evangelist Mike Bamiloye under Mount Zion production. The upcoming movie Agbara Nla: The Return is a co-production between three studios, combining Mount Zion’s legacy in gospel drama with Sozo Films’ production expertise and Circuits’ distribution network.
The franchise, created by Mike Bamiloye, has been reimagined by the next generation of the Bamiloye family decades later. Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Mike-Bamiloye are leading this creative revival, updating the story’s spiritual themes with contemporary production values while preserving the original core message of faith and spiritual resilience.
Agbara Nla is set in a village and vividly depicts intense spiritual battles, highlighting confrontations between dark forces such as witchcraft, marine spirits, occult practices, and demonic strongholds. The film emphasizes the supremacy of God’s power through prayer, faith, and courageous evangelism. This new film aims to uphold the core themes of divine authority over evil while expanding its scope and characters for a broader cinematic canvas.
Damilola Mike‑Bamiloye described the project as
A stewardship of legacy, saying the revival aims to honour the original’s spiritual impact while making the story accessible to younger audiences raised on modern cinema.
Joshua Mike‑Bamiloye emphasized the technical ambitions of the film, noting that
The team has blended practical effects, location work, and modern post‑production techniques to elevate the franchise’s visual language.
Chris Odeh is leading the production of Agbara Nla: The Return, with Mohammed Sedik and Damilola Bamiloye serving as co-producers. Blue Pictures Distribution is overseeing the nationwide distribution to ensure the film reaches audiences across Nigeria.
The movie will star Mike Bamiloye, who reprises his iconic role as Isawuru, alongside Philip Olubakin as Olaboye, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye as Kola, and Aanu Kolade Abiodun as Bose. The film aims to appeal not only to those who grew up with the series from the 1990s but also to newer viewers who are experiencing these themes for the first time, thanks to its modern cinematic touch.
On October 1, 2026, Agbara Nla: The Return, is coming to cinemas nationwide.
