Happy new month Nollywood fam! Our new month greetings are not complete without our monthly calendar of Nollywood titles on our radar this month.

Promising blockbusters, Lisabi: The Uprising, Farmer’s Bride, and Queen Lateefah arrive on the same day while acclaimed film director, Adeoluwa Owu debuts two new movies.

With no further ado, let’s get to it!

Life and Dirt – TBD

Bovi Ugboma’s crime thriller, Love and Dirt kicks off the Month of September. The James Alabi-directed flick follows two men who plot a get-rich-quick scheme, but there are obstacles on the way.

The film stars; ChidiMokeme, Bovi Ugboma, Shaffy Bello, Dorcas Shola-Fapson, Idia Aisen, Uzor Arukwe, Kanayo O. Kanayo, and many others.

Life and Dirt premieres on Prime Video this September.

Ajaga (The Yoke) – September 6

Remi Ibinola’s Ajaga. A faith-based movie, that lifts the veil on the shocking truths hidden beneath the surface of modern-day church leadership, revealing a web of manipulation, abuse, and exploitation.

The cast includes; Femi Jacobs, Tope Olowoniyan, Carol King, Jaiye Kuti, Tomiwa Sage, and Lola Smart.

Ajaga will premiere in cinemas on September 6, 2024

Last Year Single – September 6

Three inseparable friends who, unhappy with their love lives, navigate the ups and downs of romance and finances while supporting each other.

The cast includes; Omoni Oboli, Bimbo Ademoye, Toni Tones.

Blackmail – September 12

Written and produced by Obi Emelonye, it tells the story of a struggling actor’s career and family being put in jeopardy when cyber-criminals attempt to blackmail him over his internet history.

Starring in the movie are O. C Ukeje, Allessandro Babalola, Julia Holden, Natalia N, Ivan Papovec, Frances Walker, Jelena Borovskaja, Judy Akuta, Raquel Appiah, Hannah B, Samantha Bailey, Emma Fletcher, Anthony Crockett, and many others.

Blackmail by Obi Emelonye is coming to Prime Video on 12th September.

When Love Strikes – September 13

Adeoluwa Owu’s When Love Strikes is another football-fueled drama that will be gracing our screens this year.

A rising football star at Remo Stars Football Club with dreams of going pro abroad is faced with a life-changing decision -Pursue his passion for football or focus on his studies, hoping to win a scholarship that could secure his family’s future.

It features stand-out performances from an ensemble cast, including Osas Ighodaro, Natse Jemide, Bimbo Akintola, Zubby Michael, Sunshine Rosman, Jimmie Akinsola, Vine Olugu, Chuks Joseph, Demola Adedoyin, Taye Arimoro, and Suo Chapele.

Coming to Cinemas, September 13, 2024

Wura Season 3 – September 23

Wura, returns to Showmax for a third and final season, kicking off with Iperindo buzzing in preparation for Tumi and Jeje’s wedding. But unexpected challenges emerge from their past threatening their future. At the same time, Wura’s once-solid empire faces a collapse as her enemies close in, ready to strike. Wura stars Scarlet Gomez, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Martha Ehinome, Ray Adeka, Ego Ihenacho, Lanre Adediwura, Iremide Adeoye. 

Offshoot – September 26

Offshoot was produced by Oluwatoyin Adewumi and Benjami Adeniran and directed by Ugandan filmmaker Ayeny T. Steve.

Kehinde Bankole plays the lead role with supporting cast such as Ibrahim Suleiman, Kelechi Udegbe, Greg ‘Teddy Bear’ Ojefua, Bimbo Manuel, David Jones David, Tomiwa Sage, Vera Ephraim, Nonso Odogwu, Fausat Balogun ‘Madam Saje’, Salisu Danjuma Gezawa, Princess Kossi, and others.

Offshoot was initially released to cinemas nationwide on 14th June and it heads over to the streaming platform on 26th September 2024.

Lisabi: The Uprising – September 27

This highly anticipated two-part film will debut on Netflix in September, with its sequel slated for release in January 2025.

An Egba farmer ignites a rebellion against the oppressive Oyo Empire, leveraging the collective power of his fellow farmers and enigmatic abilities. His defiance, culminating in the defeat of over 6,000 Oyo soldiers, secures Egba’s independence after centuries of subjugation, marking a pivotal moment in Yoruba history.

The film is executive produced by Adedimeji Lateef, produced by Adebimpe Lateef, and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan. It features a star-studded cast that includes Femi Adebayo Salami, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele Yekini, Ibrahim Chattah, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Itele Yekini, Ibrahim Chattah, Mr Macaroni, Mo Bimpe, Eniola Ajao, Liquorose Afije, and Lateef Adedimeji.

Farmer’s Bride – September 27

Farmer’s Bride is a poignant tale set in 1980s Ibadan. Odun, a wealthy, lonely farmer, seeks solace in marriage with a young bride, Funmi. However, their union is fraught with challenges as Funmi struggles to find happiness and eventually embarks on a forbidden affair with Odun’s nephew. The consequences of their actions lead to a haunting tale of love, betrayal, and the supernatural.

Adebayo Tijani and Jack’enneth Opukeme direct Farmer’s Bride. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Tobi Bakre (Gangs of Lagos), Gbubemi Ejeye (Far From Home), Femi Branch (House of Gaa), and Mercy Aigbe (Ada Omo Mummy), Efe Irele (L.I.F.E), Wumi Toriola (Aburo).

This captivating supernatural drama is set to hit cinemas nationwide on September 27th.

Queen Lateefah – September 27

Wunmi Toriola’s Queen Lateefah is a tale of secrets and lies. The film is directed by Adeoluwa Owu and s stars Kunle Remi, Nancy Isime, Femi Adebayo, Elvina Ibru, Gbugbemi Ejeye, Enioluwa, Bimbo Manuel, Broda Shaggi, Lateef Adedimeji, KieKie, and more.

Coming to cinemas on September 27, 2024.
