
Rixel Studios, has announced Black Market; its attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest film screening in a single location. The current world record stands at approximately 43,624, but for Nigerian cinema, Rixel Studios aims to surpass this by hosting an audience of 50,000 people.
On September 26th, 2026, Rixel Studios will host a massive premiere for its latest feature film, Black Market, at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos. The event is set to be more than just a standard movie screening; it is an official attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of people to screen a film in a single location, currently held by Iglesia Ni Cristo in the Philippines.
The film, which marks Fatimah Bintu Gimsay’s theatrical directorial debut, follows the story of five market women running a smuggling operation across the Nigerian border. The project will be a collaboration with FilmOne Studios and Switch Visuals Production.

Abdul Tijani-Ahmed and Fatimah Binta Gimsay write black Market. It is directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay and produced by Rixel Studios, with Omowumi Dada, Oreoluwa Awolowo, Susan Pwajok, and Mike Afolarin serving as executive producers.
The upcoming movie Black Market features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Ibrahim Yekini, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada, Susan Pawjok, Teniola Aladese, Uzor Arukwe, Folagabade Banks, and Andrew Yaw Bunting.
Shot in Abeokuta, Nigeria, Black Market is poised to make history on September 26th at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, where it aims to break a Guinness World Record. This milestone represents yet another powerful step in Nollywood’s rise on the global stage.
