Following a successful festival run at the African International Film Festival (AFRIFF) 2024, Ifeoma Chukwuogo’s debut feature, Phoenix Fury, is officially heading to Nigerian cinemas. According to reports from Premium Times Nigeria and West Africa Weekly, out of the 160 films screened, only 64 made it to the competitive nominations list, with Phoenix Fury receiving the top honours.
Written, directed, and produced by Ifeoma Chukwuogo, Phoenix Fury follows two women, Ewura-Ama and Ifeatu, who embark on a quest for justice and closure against Yali, the man who has wrecked and tormented their lives.
The highly anticipated drama, distributed by Nile Entertainment, features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Ama K. Abebrese, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Onyinye Odokoro, Adjetey Anang, and Tina Mba.
Phoenix Fury won the Best Film and Best Director awards at AFRIFF, is scheduled to hit theatres nationwide on October 30, 2026.
