Five Figurines is an upcoming thriller directed and co-produced by filmmaker Akay Mason. The project marks the debut feature of his production company, Element24Media, in collaboration with co-producer Becca Ashang. This marks the first major project in which Akay Mason will serve as both director and co-producer, moving beyond his traditional roles as a director for hire.
Five Figurines follows the tragic fallout of a deep romance between Grace and Innocent. Their lives are shattered when Innocent dies under mysterious circumstances, sending shockwaves through their close-knit circle of friends. Devastated by the loss of the son she sacrificed everything to educate, Innocent’s mother demands immediate answers and calls for swift, traditional vengeance against whoever is responsible. As suspicion grips the group, a dark, psychological whodunnit unfolds, deeply tied to five ancient-looking wooden carvings.
These mysterious figurines become inextricably linked to the hidden secrets, betrayals, and ultimate destinies of five individuals within the circle, forcing them to navigate a dangerous web of mind games to uncover the true killer.
The film features a mix of veteran Nollywood actors and emerging talent, which includes: Bimbo Akintola, Ini Edo, Odunlade Adekola, Ireti Doyle, Uche Montana, Wumi Toriola, Clinton Joshua, Pretty Fola, and Nkechi Blessing.
Written by Steven Okonkwo, Five Figurines follows a group of individuals forced to confront their guilt, fear, and personal accountability after a tragic cover-up triggers a chaotic reaction. The plot explores how far individuals will go to protect their status, wealth, desires, and what remains when the illusion of control shatters.
While Akay Mason has directed a string of successful Nollywood hits over the years (Elevator Baby, Day of Destiny, Superstar, Love in a Pandemic, Ada Omo Daddy, Red Circle), Five Figurines will mark his first director-producer project under the new production outfit, Element24Media. Akay Mason will now pursue his own vision instead of executing someone else’s idea.
Akay Mason’s psychological thriller Five Figurines will be in cinemas nationwide on November 13, 2026.
