The director of Elevator Baby and many other notable Nollywood productions, Akay Mason, has announced the beginning of principal photography on his latest project, Five Figurines. The story, described as mysterious and filled with tension, is still in production with no release date announced.
Akay Mason, who first gained widespread recognition with Elevator Baby (2019), has since built an impressive portfolio including Day of Destiny (2021), Superstar (2021), and Love in a Pandemic (2023). His recent works, such as Ada Omo Daddy (2023) and Red Circle (2025), have cemented his reputation as one of Nollywood’s most versatile directors.
Akay Mason said in his post:
I honestly can’t wait to step into the set and bring this world to life. This project is especially personal because it marks my first venture as a producer and director under my production company Element24Media.
Five Figurines is expected to blend Mason’s signature mix of drama and suspense, with early reports suggesting a narrative that explores greed, ambition, and the supernatural. Nollywood actor Chimezie Imo has also announced that he will join the movie as an associate Producer.
The film boasts a star-studded cast featuring a dynamic blend of seasoned veterans and talented young actors from the Nigerian film industry. The cast includes Bimbo Akintola, Uche Montana, Ini Edo, Odunlade Adekola, Wumi Toriola, Clinton Joshua, Pretty Fola, and Nkechi Blessing
With Five Figurines, Mason promises the audience a cinematic experience that is both thrilling and thought-provoking.
