It’s been far too long since we were first introduced to Zuri, Adesuwa, Lara, Tami, and Ladun. With Season 2 just around the corner on YouTube, it’s the perfect time to revisit the key moments from Season 1 as we prepare to reunite with the Smart Money tribe.

Episode 1

The season opens with the girls discovering that Zuri’s ex-boyfriend, Olumide, is engaged. Devastated, Zuri confronts him, only to leave more upset. Meanwhile, her finances are in disarray—she can’t pay her service charge, her car is acting up, and she’s on the brink of losing her job. Desperate, she turns to friends and family for loans, but help is not forthcoming.

Elsewhere, Tami meets Bobby, and Lara’s younger brother announces he wants to quit school to play football, which prompts her to kick him out of the house. The episode ends with the girls catching up over lunch.

Episode 2

In this episode, Zuri reluctantly asks her older brother Efosa for money but instead gets a much-needed wake-up call about her financial habits. Meanwhile, Adesuwa confronts her husband about his absence the previous night, leading to a fight that is quickly interrupted by his mother. Zuri begins tightening her spending and decides to sell her car.

Zuri faces more pressure at work, and at a friend’s kid’s birthday party, Tami faces marriage pressure from older aunties while the girls discover that their host, Banke, is financially struggling.

Episode 3

A family emergency strikes when Zuri’s mother needs money due to an accident at home, but Zuri can’t help. Meanwhile, Tami’s fashion business faces challenges when her tailors quit, and she has to hire less-skilled replacements. Zuri narrowly avoids being fired during a company downsizing. The girls celebrate Adesuwa’s promotion, sharing financial advice over drinks.

Zuri continues selling her designer items as she learns to manage her finances better, while Adesuwa juggles a workout session with Zuri and Lara as tensions rise in her marriage.

Episode 4

Zuri’s work presentation is a success, and she spends time with Tsola, who is also heading to Benin. Tami goes on a disappointing date with Andrew, while Zuri visits family in Benin and reconnects with her newly engaged friend, Ifueko. Tami invites the girls out on a club date with Bobby, but ends up being the only one having fun. Lara reveals that a married man is pursuing her, which angers Adesuwa. Meanwhile, Soji continues to distance himself from Adesuwa, who is trying to save their relationship.

Episode 5

Zuri’s company signs a deal with Tsola’s, and he asks her out on a date. Excited, Zuri goes all out to prepare, but Lara scolds her and the girls for overspending. Zuri has a fantastic time on the date, while Ladun’s father-in-law passes away, plunging her family into financial turmoil as they discover he died bankrupt and without a will.

This stirs up emotional memories for Lara, whose own father passed away in a similar situation, prompting Tami to ask her father if he has a will—he doesn’t. Adesuwa tries once again to discuss finances with Soji, but he shuts her down.

Episode 6

Ladun’s family begins planning a lavish funeral despite their financial troubles, and her suggestions for a simpler service aren’t well received. Meanwhile, Tsola and Zuri grow closer, discussing finances as their relationship deepens. Tami’s love life hits a snag when her date with Andrew is interrupted by Bobby, causing Andrew to discover she’s been dating both men.

Zuri pitches a new idea to her boss, while Adesuwa pushes for a partnership at work and considers new career opportunities. Soji’s actions grow more reckless, and Adesuwa’s frustration mounts.

Episode 7

Zuri’s boss approves her pitch, and Tsola takes her on a celebratory date. However, tension arises when he advises her not to buy a new car just because her income is increasing, leading to an argument. The drama escalates as Adesuwa discovers Soji has emptied their joint account and run off with Chinasa. The girls rally around Adesuwa as she deals with the betrayal. Lara finds out her brother has continued to waste money, forcing her to cut ties with both him and her mother.

Tsola and Zuri reconcile after their argument, and he surprises her with a trip to South Africa. Soji’s misdeeds catch up with him when he ends up in jail after a fight, but Adesuwa refuses to bail him out.
