Happy new month Nollywood fam! I know we are still basking in the euphoria of the last three Nollywood movies that September left behind but Nollywood has so much more to offer this October! Rom-coms, thrillers, dramas, comedy, horror, October has them all!
Without further ado, here is a monthly calendar of Nollywood titles on our radar this October. Oya now, let’s go!
Life and Dirt – October 3
Bovi Ugboma’s Life and Dirt officially kicks off the Month of October. The crime thriller was initially scheduled to. It was released in September but was pushed to this month at the last minute. The James Alabi-directed flick follows two men who plot a get-rich-quick scheme, but there are obstacles.
The film stars; Chidi Mokeme, Bovi Ugboma, Shaffy Bello, Dorcas Shola-Fapson, Idia Aisen, Uzor Arukwe, Kanayo O. Kanayo, and many others.
Life and Dirt premieres on October 3 via Prime Video this October.
The Smart Money Woman – October 10
Created by Arese Ugwu, the series follows a group of stylish, ambitious best friends in Lagos as they navigate life, love, careers, finances, scandals, and dreams of success. The second season, directed by Bunmi Ajakaiye and Wande Thomas, is co-produced by Kemi Lala Akindoju, Akintunde ‘MARINE’ Marinho, and Isoken Ogiemwonyi.
The script was co-written by Arese Ugwu, Mannie Oiseomaye, and Eyo Emmanuel.
In this new season, Zuri is on a journey of financial discipline but struggles to stay on course. Adesuwa deals with the fallout of a bitter divorce while trying to co-parent with her unreliable ex, Soji. Lara’s life spirals, with both work and family falling apart, and Tami faces the challenge of balancing her blossoming business and love life.
Season two also stars Timini Egbuson, Eso Dike, Seun Ajayi, Tania Omotayo, Enyinna Nwigwe, Eku Edewor, Tobi Bakre, Bolanle Olukanni, Jesse Suntele, Tania Omotayo, Oshuwa Tunde Imoyo, Bobby Ekpe, and Femi Branch. It introduces fresh faces like NicoleIkot, Oladozie Olawaiye, Shamz Garuba, and Adunolaoluwa Osilowo.
The Smart Money Woman premieres on October 10 via YouTube.
A Night in 2005 – October 11
Temidayo Abudu Makanjuola will make her big screen debut with the drama, A Night in 2005. Set in 2005, the story unravels one fateful night when everything changes in the blink of an eye. It’s a gripping drama that explores themes of love, friendship, and family.
The film cast Ini-Dima Okojie, Teniola Aladese, Efa Iwara, Ireti Doyle, Bimbo Akintola, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Taye Arimoro, Demi Banwo, Shamz Garuba, Susan Pwajok and more.
The film will be in the cinemas on the 11th of October.
Inside Life – October 11
Created by Award-winning music director, Clarence A Peters and Written by AMVCA nominee, Olumide Kuti alongside Tonia Chukwurah
Set against the stark backdrop of incarceration, Inside Life delves deep into the lives of individuals navigating the harsh realities of prison existence. Through a series of compelling narratives, the show explores the complexities of human nature, offering an unflinching portrayal of the diverse personalities from hardened criminals to those wrongfully accused.

Inside Life will stream on Netflix from the 11th of October, 2024.
The Uprising: Wives on Strike – October 18
Omoni Oboli’s Wives on Strike returns to the big screen in a third installment, The Uprising: Wives On Strike.
The film follows an honor graduate, who is kidnapped upon returning home. Driven by vengeance, his mother embarks on a bloody quest to rescue him, plunging into a violent and horrible ordeal.
The film brings back the original cast – Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, Ufuoma McDermott and Chioma Akpotha, alongside veteran actress Hilda Dokubo, Tomiwa Tegbe, Segun Arinze, Kalu Ikeagwu, Julius Agwu, Emeka Okoye, Bukunmi “Kie Kie” Adeaga and Okey Bakassi.
The Uprising: Wives On Strike. will premiere in cinemas on October 18, 2024
3 Working Days – October 18
Jerry Ossai joins Omoni Oboli with 3 Working Days for a double release date.
3 Working Days follows a father’s quest to provide for his family while dealing with Nigeria’s cash scarcity crisis. Ossai dives into this film with a story about a father who makes the ultimate sacrifice for his son.
Directed by Ossai and distributed by Filmone Entertainment, the film features Detola Jones, Linda Osifo, Tobi Makinde, Deyemi Okanlawon, Nancy Isime, Uzor Arukwe, Romeo WJ, Tobi Makinde, Mike Afolarin, Femi Adebayo, Victor Osuagwu, Bolaji Ogunmola, Seun Kentebe, Odunaro Emmanuel, Mike Ezeruonye, and Gbugbemi Ejeye.
3 Working Days will premiere in cinemas on October 18, 2024.
Hijack 93 – October 25
Based on the actual event, “Hijack ‘93” will depict the story of a plane hijack carried out by four Nigerian teenagers under the banner of “Movement for the Actualisation of Democracy” (MAD). These teenagers allegedly hijacked an airplane in transit to Abuja from Lagos.
The plane hijackers had demanded that MKO Abiola be reinstated as the President of Nigeria as Nigeria was in talks of transforming into a civilian rule after decades of military rule. The boys were caught, imprisoned, and later released.
Directed by Robert O. Peters, Hijack ‘93 stars Jemima Osunde, Nancy Isime, Efa Iwara, Sharon Ooja, Ego Nwosu, John Dumelo, Nnamdi Agbo, Allison Emmanuel, Yakubu Muhammed, and Sani Muazu.
Hijack 93 will stream on Netflix from the 25th of October, 2024.
Soft Love – October 25
Holmes Awa’s romantic comedy, Soft Love is produced by Nemsia Studios.
“Soft Love” is a romantic comedy film starring Zandi Jele, a South African relationship expert, who regains hope after being dumped and discovering her gay fiancé’s identity.
The film stars; Efa Iwara, Dorcas Shola-Fapson, Genoveva Umeh, Carol King, Rosemary Zimu, and many others.
Soft Love will stream on Prime Video from the 25th of October, 2024.
