
September certainly didn’t disappoint; it delivered remarkable Nollywood Movies, but October isn’t here to slow things down! So, get ready for an exciting lineup of theatrical and streaming releases ranging from action, comedy, campus life, drama, to documentary and crime thrillers.
This month brings a fresh wave of films that offer plenty of reasons to head to the cinema, clear your schedule, or simply just settle into your coach. Here is a list of movies to see this October:
Agbara Nla: The Return – October 1st
Agbara Nla is an anticipated modern cinematic remake of Mount Zion Faith Ministries’ iconic 1993 Christian television classic. Directed by Damilola and Joshua Mike Bamiloye, the film brings the return of the legendary characters of Isawuru and Ayamatanga back to the big screen. The story returns to the village of Abule Muwonleru, a place dominated by spiritual conflict and a dark stronghold maintained by the powerful herbalist Isawuru.
The film explores themes such as faith, courage, temptation, and the triumph of God’s power over darkness. Distributed by Nile Entertainment, the movie features a robust ensemble of both seasoned and younger actors, including Mike Bamiloye, Gloria Bamiloye, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye, Yemi Adepoju, Omolara Ayoola, David Kola-Okeowo, and Ruby Kolade.
Agbara Nla: The Return will be released in cinemas nationwide across Nigeria on October 1, 2026, coinciding with Nigeria’s Independence Day.
Black Market – October 2
Set in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Black Market follows five market women who run a covert and highly disciplined fuel-smuggling ring across international borders. Operating with military-like precision, their lucrative network runs smoothly until a ruthless rival syndicate abducts the daughter of one of the women. The women are forced to fight not only for their survival and the continuation of their profitable operation, but also to protect their unbreakable bond.
Black Market features a stellar ensemble cast, including Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Itele D Icon, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, Uzor Arukwe, Andrew Yaw, Kanaga Jr, Toye Arimoro, Shamz Garuba, Folagade Banks, and Tomiwa Tegbe.
Premieres in cinemas from October 2, 2026.
MKO – October 1st
MKO is an investigative documentary detailing the life and political legacy of Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, who was elected president in 1993 but was annulled by the military regime. Directed by Ose Oyamendan, features interviews with key figures from Nigeria’s political history.
The documentary aims to shed light on the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election and the subsequent political crisis in Nigeria.
MKO is set to premiere in Nigerian cinemas on October 1, 2026.
Oversabi Aunty – October 2nd
Toyin Abraham’s directorial debut; Oversabi Aunty, centres on Toun, a devoted churchgoer whose zeal for judging and correcting others overshadows her responsibilities at home. The film blends humour with drama and explores themes of faith, family, and the line between devotion and personal interference in others’ lives.
Oversabi Aunty stars Toyin Abraham, Mike Ezuruonye, Tana Adenala, Jemima Osunde, Efe Irele, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Aliyat Olamide, Queen Nwokoye, and Bianca Ugo.
Oversabi Aunty is set to stream on both Netflix and Kava TV starting from October 2nd.
East West Love – October 9th
East West Love is a Kenyan Nigerian romantic comedy that will open the Nollywood Week Film Festival in Paris. The film, directed by Seko Shamte, follows the story of Tito, a Nigerian event planner, who, after her boyfriend’s betrayal, turns her trip to Mombasa into a girls’ getaway with her best friend, leading to a journey of healing and new possibilities with a charming local named Juma.
Produced by Dolapo Adeleke and Folashayo Oke Sobo, the film features a diverse cast from Kenya and Nigeria, including Sunshine Rosman, Brian Abajah, Efa Iwara, Elma Mbadiwe, and Emmanuel Mugo.
East West Love will be released in cinemas in Nigeria on 9 October 2026, simultaneously with releases in Kenya, Canada, and the UK
A Land Apart – October 23rd
A Land Apart is Bem Pever’s alternate-historical drama, imagining a modern Nigeria shaped entirely by agriculture rather than crude oil. The story centers on Dekera Ahura, who develops a revolutionary agricultural formula called AX-103 that has the potential to prevent a global food crisis. The plot intensifies when global powers take an interest in AX-103, transforming the family drama into a high-stakes geopolitical conflict.
Distributed by Nile Entertainment, A Land Apart a features Richard Mofe-Damijo, Princess Mufeedah, Onyeka Onwenu, San Dede, Daniel Etim Effiong, and Adam Garba. The movie emphasizes a fusion of alternate history, family drama, and Nigerian culture.
The movie will premiere nationwide in October 23, 2026.
Tele x Zikora – October 23rd
Adenike Adebayo-Esho’s young adult university drama tracking the colliding worlds of two students from vastly different backgrounds. The film focuses on friendship, romance, campus parties, personal growth, and identity.
Tele, a keen observer who notices much but speaks little, and Zikora whose perspective offers a unique appeal and campus chaos. Their connection evolves through lectures, social interaction, and shared choices, reflecting the challenges and excitement of student life.
Set within the fictional Lagos Metropolitan University (LUM), the movie stars Genoveva Umeh, Mike Afolarin, Mercy Aiegbe, Chimezie Imo, Tomi Ojo, Olumide Oworu, Angel Unigwe, Layi Wasabi, and Daniel Etim Effiong.
Tele x Zikora is set for a theatrical release across Nigeria on October 23, 2026.
Wire Transfer – October 30th
Produced by Kuros Studios, the film follows a new generation of criminals planning a major heist. The movie will explore themes of ambition, strategy, and the consequences of illegal actions.
Wire Transfer stars Nosa Rex Okunzuwa, Hanks Anuku, Gideon Okeke, Deyemi Okanlawon, and Teddy A. This crime thriller is coming to cinemas on Friday 30th of October, 2026.
Phoenix Fury – October 30th
Directed by Ifeoma Chukwuogo, the film follows the intertwined lives of two women, Ewura-Ama and Ifeatu, as they seek justice and closure against Yali, a man who tormented their lives. The film’s Narrative spans several decades and two countries, Nigeria and Ghana.
Pheonix Fury Features a prestigious ensemble cast that includes Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ama K. Abebrese, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Tina Mba, and Adjetey Anang. Premieres in cinemas on October 30.
After a successful run at the African International Film Festival (AFRIFF) 2024, the movie will be released in Nigerian Cinemas nationwide on October 30th, 2026.
