The official of Trailer of Nollywood crime thriller directed and co-written by Fatimah Binta Gimsay has been released. Black Market represents a major milestone in Fatimah Binta Gimsay’s career, serving as her debut feature-length film following her extensive career as a writer and short filmmaker.
Set in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Black Market follows five market women who run a covert and highly disciplined fuel-smuggling ring across international borders. Operating with military-like precision, their lucrative network runs smoothly until a ruthless rival syndicate abducts the daughter of one of the women. The women are forced to fight not only for their survival and the continuation of their profitable operation, but also to protect their unbreakable bond.
The thriller features both classic and contemporary Nigerian talent including Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Omowunmi Dada, Scarlet Gomez, Susan Pwajok, Teniola Aladese, Lateef Adedimeji, Ibrahim Yekini, Uzor Arukwe, Folagade Banks, Tomiwa Tegbe, Andrew Yaw Bunting, Shamz Garuba, and Adeoluwa Akintoba.
The film will screen on September 26, 2026, with a massive outdoor event at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in Lagos. The organizers are aiming to set an official Guinness World Record for the largest film screening in a single location by assembling 50,000 attendees for a single viewing, surpassing the long-standing record of 43,000 people set in the Philippines.
