Melon House’s debut feature film, Adanne, now has an official poster. Adanne has been selected to participate in two film festivals: the All African Independent Film Festival (AAIFF) occurring in Kigali and the Women of Lens Festival in London.
Written and produced by Gold Gerry, Adanne tells the story of three generations of Igbo women navigating family tension, love, and duty. Performed in English and Igbo, the movie centers on a young woman caught between her creative ambitions and the traditions she is expected to uphold.
Directed by Orobosa Ikponmwen in her feature-film debut, Adanne stars Mmesomachi Chilaka as the lead, alongside Onyinye Odokoro, Kelvinmary Ndukwe, and Jennifer Umenwa. The film examines how patterns of behaviour, belief, and survival pass through generations of women; it also looks closely at the quiet negotiations, sacrifices, and tenderness that shape mother-daughter relationships within a shared home.
Adanne will screen at AAIFF in Kigali, Rwanda, on October 15 to 17, 2026. The film has also been accepted into the Women of the Lens Festival in London, screening in November 2026. These selections mark early stops on Adanne’s international festival run, with further screenings planned across the EMEA region as the film progress towards a theatrical release.
