‘Owambe’: New Film Starring Kehinde Bankole Begins Principal Photography

Sozo Films has confirmed the leads of Owambe, the principal photography is ongoing in Lagos with director Oluseyi Asurf at the helm. The film tells the story of a young woman (Kehinde Bankole) who returns from abroad and has to take up her mother’s role as Iyaloja. 

Kehinde Bankole and Jidekene Achufusi will lead the cast of Owambe. Joining the two as supporting characters are Iyabo Ojo, Fathia Balogun, Lina Idoko, Ngozi Nwosu, Tunbosin Aiyedehin, Tope Olowoniyan, Tina Mba, Taiwo Hassan, Iya Rainbow and Nimi Adekanmbi.

Owambe is about a crafty young woman embroiled in a battle for the position of Iya Oloja after her mother dies. Although she seems sincere to the market women of Isale-Eko, they quickly discover her past is not as it seems.

Owambe is written by Nimi Adekanmbi, Toniah Chukwurah (In Another Life), and Olumide Kuti (WURA). Chris Odeh (Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story) serves as producer on the project, in a co-production between Joy Odiete of Blue Pictures, Oluseyi Asurf, and Odeh. KC Obiajulu is credited as the cinematographer and Tunji Afolayan is behind its production design.
