After grossing over 1 billion at the Nigerian box office, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi‘s Oversabi Aunty is officially making its digital debut on streaming platforms. The comedy-drama will premiere on both Netflix and Kava TV in October.
Marking Toyin Abraham’s directorial debut, Oversabi Aunty, which became the first directorial debut in Nigerian cinema to surpass 1 billion at the box office, follows the chaotic life of Toun, an overzealous church usher whose obsession with fixing everyone else’s personal affairs turns her household into a moral battlefield. Toun’s unsolicited advice and self-righteousness reach a peak during a high-stakes family wedding introduction, triggering a series of emotional disasters and chaos.
The movie vibrantly fused Yoruba and Igbo wedding traditions, celebrating unity amidst domestic drama. The film is anchored by a powerhouse ensemble cast that brings the humour and drama to life. The cast includes Toyin Abraham, Mike Ezuruonye, Eniola Adeoluwa, Jemima Osunde, Tana Adelana, Efe Irele, and Queen Nwokoye.
Movie lovers can stream Oversabi Aunty from October 2nd, either via Netflix or Kava TV. It offers an entertaining mix of cultural humour, family drama, and African storytelling.
