Happy new month nolly gang! You know the month doesn’t officially begin till we present the Nollywood movies to be released this April.
Last month saw the release of Nollywood movies and series that exceeded our expectations and we certainly hope this month lives up to the expectations.
Shall we begin?
Saving Onome
Shanty Town director, Dimeji Ajibola drops his well-anticipated feature, Saving Onome.
The film follows two devoted parents fighting tirelessly for their chronically ill daughter, Onome. With time running out for a life-saving surgery, the story explores the depths of love and the lengths people go to for their loved ones.
It features Keppy Ekpeyong, Femi Jacobs, and Ashionye Michelle Raccah joining the production alongside Olumide Oworu, Mary Lazarus, Kelechi Udegbe, Nas Boi, and many others.
Saving Onome heads to cinemas on April 5, 2024.
Head Over Bills
Head Over Bills by Dabby Chimere is the story of three privileged and spoiled sisters who find love in pursuit of their mother’s approval, lose it, and rediscover themselves.
Starring Shaffy Bello, Bimbo Ademoye, Uzor Arukwe, Anita Joseph, Mofe Duncan, Alex Cross, Ego Nwosu, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, Rachael Okonkwo, and Jessica Tse.
Head Over Bill heads for release on Prime Video on April 5th.
Ajosepo
Kayode Kasum will be banking on the success of Afamefuna to gain the right traction for his new film, Ajosepo.
Two estranged brothers, Jide and Dapo are compelled to unite when their father becomes embroiled in a compromising situation with the bride’s aunt, endangering the wedding.
The film features a stellar cast including Timini Egbuson, Bisola Aiyeola, Tomike Adeoye, Mercy Aigbe, and Mike Afolarin, alongside Nollywood veterans Yemi Solade, Ronke Ojo, and Muyiwa Ademola.
Ajosepo is set to hit theatres on April 12th, 2024. See the trailer below.
Ch3mistry
The romantic drama Ch3mistry was directed by Adenike Esho and produced by Imagine Media. Starring Daniel Etim Effiong, Eby Eno, Bolaji Ogunmola, Michael Ejoor, Biodun Stephen, and Jayonair.
Chemistry is a romantic drama that tells the story of a newlywed couple who look forward to having sex for the first time. However, things don’t go as planned because different issues and problems keep arising.
Chemistry will grace our screens via Netflix on 19th April 2024.
Kill Boro
Courage Obayuwana’s directorial debut is one of the Nollywood movies that we look forward to this month.
Kill Boro tells the harrowing story of Elijah (Kosisochukwu Ogboruche), a young boy burdened by his father Boro’s (Philip Asaya) relentless brutality. Driven by desperation in the unforgiving streets of Azuama, Elijah seeks an unthinkable solution from a notorious gang leader (Gregory Ojefua).
Kill Boro heads to Prime Video on March 30th.
Strained
After several years of separation, Ebere painfully reconnects with her estranged mother as she comes to help out in taking care of her newborn but is suddenly diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease and now the family struggles to keep their peace and unity.
Starring Queen Nwokoye, Tracey George, Samuel Nnabuike, and Adaeze Onuigbo.
Fresh off its cinema release, Okey Oku’s Strained heads to Netflix on the 26th of April.
Blacksmith (Alagbede)
A hustling Blacksmith is pressured to make decisions that may haunt him in the future. The movie is directed by Usman “Blackky” Ogunlade.
The cast includes Jaiye Kuti, Femi Adebayo, Bimbo Oshin, Gabriel Olasubomi Afolayan, Kehinde Bankole, Mr. Macaroni, Adebowale Adebayo, and Taiwo Ibikunle amongst others.
Blacksmith opens in cinemas on April 19th.
