Summer is officially is officially here and so are the hottest Nollywood movies. Brace up for Nollywood’s busiest month.

From the highly anticipated Enioluwa Adeoluwa series, “All Of Us” to the Inkblot produced thriller, “The Betrayed,” here are the Nollywood movies and series set to be released this August.

With Difficulty Comes Ease – August 1

Nemsia Films opens up the month of August with Korede Azeez’s Social Drama, With Difficulty Comes Ease.

The movie takes us on the compelling journey of Zainab, a resilient woman navigating the complexities of loss, tradition, and new beginnings. Uzoamaka Anuinoh plays the lead role as Zainab, supported by Michelle Dede, Caleb Richards and Many others.

The film heads to Prime Video on August 1.

The Betrayed – August 2

Zulummoke Oyibo’s whodunit thriller, The Betrayed follows a woman whose husband’s alleged crime threatens to unravel their marriage. As trust is broken, who will she believe?

The film stars Uche Montana, Gabriel Afolayan, Jemima Osunde, Ibrahim Suleiman, Adunni Ade, and Vine Olga.

The Betrayed will be released in cinemas soon August 2, 2024.

Criminal – August 2

This crime drama follows a criminal gang’s plight to get urgent health care for their fallen gang member.

Criminal is directed by Dolapo Adigun and written by Niyi Akinmolayan and stars Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Uzor Arukwe, Gbugbemi Ejeye, Chuks Joseph and Segun Arinze.

Criminal is coming to Prime Video on August 2nd.

Move Like A Boss – August 9

To save her father’s company from the hands of his greedy siblings, Joko is left with no option but to become him and move like a boss!

This film is directed by Ekene Mekwunye and stars Nancy Isime, Yemi Solade, Moyo Lawal, Denrele Edun, IK Ogbonna and many others.

Move Like A Boss heads to cinemas on August 9.

Something Like Gold – August 16

Kayode Kasum’s 2023 comedy will grace our screens via Netflix after a healthy theatrical run.

A woman finds herself rediscovering love after her life is turned upside down when she is left at the altar. As she faces the challenges of rebuilding her life, she must also cope with the seizure of her father’s wealth. Starring Sandra Okunzuwa, Kunle Remi, Teniola Aladese and Mercy Johnson-Okojie.

The film heads to Netflix on August 16, 2024.

Chains – August 16

A Gospel Music Artist sets out on a journey to balance his Music Ministry and the Realities of the Music Industry, putting at risk all he’s built over the years while battling with a moral disease common to all humanity, but determined to live no longer a slave.

Directed by Bright Wonder Obasi featuring Solomon Lange, Apst Tayo Christian, Chioma David, Anne Ekwueme, Naomi Mac, Flora Lange, Henry Ned, Apst Anslem Madubuko, Onos Ariyo and Jayclef Adewale.

The film is set for cinemas across Nigeria from the 16th of August.

Force Empire – August 23

Uduakobong Patrick’s crime drama, Force Empire is oe of the most anticipated Nollywood movies set to be released this month. DCP Mfon is resolute in unmasking the perpetrator who raped and humiliated her protégé, ASP Halima, now traumatized and fearful. Despite fierce resistance from the top brass, she is determined to expose him and other corrupt officers tarnishing the force’s reputation.

The film has an ensemble cast led by Nse Ikpe Etim and Richard Mofe-Damijo.

Coming to cinemas across Nigeria and Ghana on August 23, 2024

All Of Us – August 30

All of Us begins streaming on YouTube this August. Enioluwa Adeoluwa making his producing debut, explores the intricate dynamics of secondary school life. 

The title will delve into themes like friendship, sexual assault, and the myriad challenges and victories of adolescence. The film features an ensemble cast of emerging talents and seasoned actors including Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Pricilla Ojo, Chioma Chukwuka, Shaffy Bello, Iyabo Ojo, Yemi Solade, Kate Henshaw, and Jemima Osunde, among others.

The series All of Us is written by Emmanuel ‘Mannie’ Oiseomaye and helmed by director Orire Nwani with Oluchi Nwofor.

Tokunbo – August 23

Netflix has secured the distribution rights for Tokunbo, an upcoming crime thriller directed by Ramsey Nouah. The film marks Nouah’s third directorial project, following his successful works Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story (2020) and Living in Bondage: Breaking Free (2019).

Tokunbo centers on the intense journey of an ex-car smuggler who must race against time to save a kidnapped girl. The narrative delves into critical issues in Nigeria, such as kidnapping, political corruption, and the fight for survival, presenting a gritty portrayal of the nation’s darker side.

The film boasts an impressive cast, including Gideon Okeke in the lead role, alongside Adunni Ade, Tosin Adeyemi, child actress Darasimi Nnadi, and Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi.

Break of Dawn – August 23

Under the cover of night, two masterminds get entangled in a dangerous game of survival where every choice is a gamble

Who will outsmart the other before the “Break Of Dawn”?

This crime drama is directed by Umanu Elijah and stars Kanayo O. Kanayo, Eve Irele, Jidekene Achufusi, Mike Ezerounye, Stan Nze and many others.

Premieres in cinemas on August 23, 2024.

The Weekend – August 30

Daniel Oriahi’s Psychological Thriller, The Weekend drops the curtain for Nollywood’s August releases. The film delves into the complexities of in-law relationships while addressing political, social, and cultural trauma. The film features Bucci Franklin, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, Gloria Anozie, James Gardiner, Meg Otanwa, and Brutus Richards.

The Weekend premieres in cinemas on August 30.
