President Bola Tinubu has appointed acclaimed Kannywood actor Ali Nuhu as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation. This development is contained in a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity in Abuja, on Friday, January 12, 2024.
Nuhu is a renowned actor, businessman, and philanthropist who has won several national and international awards. He studied film production and cinematic arts at the University of California and attended training programs at the Asian School of Media Studies in New Delhi. He also participated in numerous film festivals, including the Zuma Film Festival and the Pyongyang International Film Festival.
He joined the Nollywood mainstream and has remained relevant for about a decade. He featured prominently in Nollywood blockbusters, such as The Trade, Banana Island Ghost, Diamonds in the Sky, and Shanty Town.

The presidential spokesman said Tinubu charged the new appointees to discharge their duties by the highest standards of professionalism, diligence, and patriotism. The appointees are Nuhu, Managing Director, Nigerian Film Corporation; Tola Akerele, Director-General, National Theatre and Dr Shaibu Husseini, Director-General, National Films and Censors Board.
