Known for his acting prowess, Fred Amata is set to captivate audiences again with his latest directorial venture, “Voltage.” Amata, whose career spans decades and includes a diverse portfolio of directing, acting, and producing credits, has carved a niche for himself in Nigerian cinema.
Beginning with his breakthrough role in “Legacy” in 1986, Fred Amata has directed over 27 films, showcasing his talents both behind and in front of the camera. His directorial prowess shines through in acclaimed works like “Enemies” (1998), “Anini” (2005), and “RattleSnake: The Ahanna Story” (2022), where he showcased his talents as both director and actor.
Amata has also acted in over 83 films, featuring in recent hits such as “Ada Omo Daddy” (2023) and “Merry Men 3: Nemesis” (2023). He produced “Road to Redemption” (2016) and “Tumini’s Song”, and gained acclaim for “Letters to a Stranger” (2007).
Set against the backdrop of societal challenges, “Voltage” explores themes of deceit, resilience, and the fight against powerful interests that control the energy sector. With its satirical lens, the film aims to entertain, educate, and provoke important conversations among Nigerian and African audiences.
Olumide Oworo leads the ensemble as Tega, a young man caught between his family’s corrupt business practices and his desire to expose the deep-rooted corruption within Nigeria’s power sector.

Now, Amata takes on a new challenge with “Voltage,” produced by Ngozi Ogbonna Nglabelle in collaboration with Daylight Group and CallMeNgLabelle Kontents Ltd. The film is scheduled to premiere on June 30th, 2024, with a nationwide cinema release on July 5th, “Voltage” promises to be a blockbuster event.
