FilmOne Studio’s second production, Farmer’s Bride, is currently in production. The film is Directed by Adebayo Tijani and Jack’enneth Opukeme.
Tobi Bakre is set to grace the screens again following his successful transition into Nollywood, Tobi Bakre has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in action-packed blockbusters like Brotherhood, Gangs of Lagos, and the recent hit series Slum King. Garnering accolades such as the Actor of the Year Award at the 9th African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) for his role in Brotherhood.
Farmer’s Bride is set against the backdrop of 1980s Ibadan, this period thriller unfolds the story of Odun (portrayed by Femi Branch), a wealthy yet isolated farmer who finds solace in Funmi (played by Gbubemi Ejeye), a young woman from a neighboring village.
However, Odun’s newfound happiness turns dark when his nephew Femi (portrayed by Tobi Bakre) and Funmi conspire to eliminate him following an unexpected twist in their relationship. Their nefarious plot succeeds, but they soon find themselves haunted by the vengeful spirit of the farmer, setting off a chain of events that will test their resolve.
Farmer’s Bride marks FilmOne’s second foray into original productions following the success of Adire, directed by Adeoluwa Owu. While FilmOne has made a name for itself through distribution and co-productions, Adire signaled the dawn of FilmOne Studios, the company’s in-house production arm dedicated to creating fresh and innovative content.
Farmer’s Bride has an ensemble cast including Tobi Bakre, Gbubemi Ejeye, Efe Irele, Femi Branch, Mercy Aigbe, and Wunmi Toriola, Farmer’s Bride recently wrapped production in Ibadan and is set for the cinemas later this year.
