Nigerian filmmaker and media executive Mo Abudu has announced the launch of EbonyLife ON PLUS, a new streaming platform dedicated to African storytellers. The announcement was made via her official social media accounts on Friday, positioning the platform as a creative hub for filmmakers, producers, and directors across Africa and the global Black diaspora.
This marks another milestone in Abudu’s two-decade-long mission to amplify African narratives on a global stage. From Moments with Mo, Naija Diamonds. To The Wedding Party, Òlòturé, Blood Sisters, and Baby Farm. “For over 20 years, I’ve dedicated my life to telling our stories — stories that reflect our truth, our journey, and our future,” Abudu shared. And further expressed that this was the start of something new.
Described as more than just a streaming service, EbonyLife ON PLUS aims to be a home for Nigerian and African stories, prioritizing authentic and diverse narratives that reflect the continent’s cultural richness. The platform will feature a mix of local and diaspora content, alongside exclusive programming and community-based offerings.
In addition to hosting original and curated content, members of EbonyLife ON PLUS will gain access to several exclusive benefits, including; Masterclasses with Mo Abudu.The Legend Series, featuring conversations with leading industry experts. Inspirational podcasts for creatives and storytellers. Stardom Hangouts with prominent film and television personalities. Free live TV channels and monthly virtual events. As part of the platform’s rollout, Abudu also extended an invitation to filmmakers with completed projects to submit their works for consideration on the streaming service.
The launch of EbonyLife ON PLUS follows the recent announcement of EbonyLife’s expansion to London. Scheduled to open in the final quarter of 2025, the new UK hub will include a 180-seater EbonyLife Cinema, Turaka London — a premium Nigerian dining experience — and a slate of stage productions aimed at promoting African culture internationally.
With this latest development, EbonyLife continues to solidify its position as a key driver of African storytelling, extending its impact beyond content creation to community building and global distribution.
