Colours of Fire: Here is What we Know So Far About the New Movie

First-look images for Niyi Akinmolayan’s upcoming film Colours of Fire have been unveiled, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated Nollywood releases. The stills, shared by Akinmolayan on Instagram, hint at a visually striking film layered with tension, intimacy, and spectacle. One image captures Ighodaro and Arukwe in an evocative pose, suggesting both vulnerability and power, while other frames highlight the use of bold colors and dramatic lighting, hallmarks of Akinmolayan’s cinematic style.

With the cinematography by Barny Emordi, Colours Of Fire juggles mythical drama and a blend of an extremely rich historical narrative. And this is hinted in the images released, which show traditional rulership, cultural elements and an impending battle.

The film, stars Osas Ighodaro and Uzor Arukwe in lead roles alongside Mercy Aigbe, Femi Branch, and Gabriel Afolayan. The feature will be released in cinemas on December 24, 2025. Produced by Anthill Studios in collaboration with FilmOne Studios and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, Colours of Fire joins an already packed December line-up that includes Over Sabi Aunty, Behind the Scene, and King of Boys 3.

Colours of Fire follows a run of ambitious projects from the filmmaker. His 2021 comedy Prophetess earned over ₦131 million at the Nigerian box office. While My Village People, released the same year, crossed the ₦100 million mark with its supernatural-infused comedy. More recently, Akinmolayan took a bold leap with Mikolo (2023). A fantasy adventure blending live action and CGI that later secured a global rollout on Amazon Prime.

Regarded as one of Nollywood’s most versatile directors, Akinmolayan has built a reputation for experimenting across genres. And expanding the use of visual effects in Nigerian cinema. Through Anthill Studios, he has also contributed to growing the industry’s technical capacity.
