On December 4, 2024, Lagos hosted an exciting event at Imax Lekki, unveiling 77: The FESTAC Conspiracy. Directed by Izu Ojukwu, this film is the much-anticipated sequel to 76. It brought together industry professionals, filmmakers, cast members, and history buffs, all eager to witness this cinematic journey into Nigerian history.

The first film, 76, was a powerful depiction of the 1976 Nigerian coup. It highlighted the personal and political impacts of that turbulent time. 77: The FESTAC Conspiracy shifts the focus to a different, yet equally important moment in Nigeria’s history. Set against the backdrop of the 1977 FESTAC, the film explores African identity, unity, and the political struggles of the time. FESTAC was a landmark event, drawing delegates from 56 countries to celebrate African heritage through art, music, and culture.
