Acclaimed filmmaker Sampson Afolabi-Johnson is ready to captivate audiences with his latest production, The Presidency, scheduled for release across Nigerian cinemas on 21 February 2025. This political drama promises to be a thought-provoking drama about power, ambition, greed, and the pursuit of change in modern Nigeria.
The story follows Jaiyeola Durodola, portrayed Mallum Arik, a man returning to Nigeria after years spent abroad. His return coincides with political tensions as his mother, Ireti Jaiyeola, a prominent leader in the United Progressive Movement (UPM), faces mounting challenges from a formidable opposition group, the Progress Circle. The film explores themes of loyalty, family, and patriotism as Durodola becomes entangled in the unfolding drama.
The movie boasts an impressive cast, including Nollywood veterans Gideon Okeke, Antar Laniyan, Akin Lewis, Jide Kosoko, Fadekemi Olumide-Aluko, Aderonke Onuoha, Yemi Blaq, and Patrick Doyle. Their performances are expected to bring nuance and intensity to this emotionally charged narrative.
