3 COLD DISHES

The official teaser for 3 Cold Dishes — a Pan-African revenge thriller—has just dropped. Released today, June 26, the teaser offers a charged first look at a film poised to be one of Nollywood’s most ambitious projects yet.

The teaser introduces a tale of vengeance, survival, and justice—one rooted in a subject too often sidelined: intra-African human trafficking.

A Story of Sisterhood and Reckoning

3 Cold Dishes tells the story of Esosa, Fatouma, and Giselle, three women trafficked as teenagers who formed a deep bond in captivity. Two decades later, hardened by trauma but united by purpose, they reunite to launch a meticulously planned mission against the men who once owned their lives.

Set across Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania, and the Benin Republic, the film promises a visually rich, emotionally charged journey, blending drama, suspense, and action.

Burna Boy Makes His Nollywood Production Debut

Premiered earlier this year during Burna Boy’s concert at the Stade de France in Paris, the teaser’s release marks the Afrobeats star’s first foray into Nollywood as an executive producer under his Spaceship Films banner. Co-founded with his manager and mother, Bose Ogulu, the label now makes its cinematic debut in collaboration with Asurf Films, Ifind Pictures, Alma Productions, Martian Network, and others.

Behind the Scenes: A Continental Collaboration

The film is directed by Asurf Oluseyi, known for Hakkunde, Gone, and Kasanova, and produced by Martial Dansou, LY Hamet, and Oluseyi himself. The production draws together a host of African and diasporic talent both on and off screen, with support from ten different studios including Nexthought Studios, Black Mic Mac, MBO Capital, and Azure Noir & Co.

Cast Highlights

The cast features a powerful mix of Nigerian talent—Osas Ighodaro, Wale Ojo, Femi Jacobs, Ruby Akubueze and Brutus Mfon—alongside actors from across Francophone and Anglophone Africa. Ivorian actors Fat Toure and Maud Guérard bring diverse perspectives, while Senegalese stars Amelie Mbaye and Mentor Ba deepen the film’s continental authenticity, underscoring its truly Pan-African scope. The film is bilingual, delivered in both English and French.

A Rare Spotlight on Intra-African Trafficking

While trafficking has been explored in Nigerian and African cinema before—films like Òlòtūré and I Am All Girls have tackled global networks—the focus has often been on victims trafficked from Africa to Europe or the Middle East.

In contrast, 3 Cold Dishes digs into a lesser-covered but widespread issue: human trafficking between African countries. In a statement on the Asurf Films YouTube channel, director Asurf Oluseyi shared:

“Before now, there are great titles that have explored trafficking from Africa going to Europe… but to explore the real gory story of these girls from an African country to another African country—that’s the story we’re telling.”

This issue is alarmingly prevalent. According to data from the African Union and IOM, most trafficking in sub-Saharan Africa happens within the region. Women and girls, in particular, are moved across porous borders with little media coverage and even less justice. 3 Cold Dishes steps into that silence.

The Road Ahead

With the teaser now making its mark, audiences can anticipate the full trailer and marketing campaign in the coming months ahead of the film’s theatrical release on 7 November 2025. Distributed by FilmOne, 3 Cold Dishes is set to premiere across a broad range of territories from Nigeria, Benin, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Kenya and Liberia to France, the UK, the USA and Canada.

With its ambitious vision, international reach, and socially urgent story, 3 Cold Dishes is shaping up to be a cinematic statement.
