Hello Nolly Gang! It is that time of the month again when we release our Nollywood Movies and Series calendar. There’s loads of fresh Nollywood content this month, May 2024.

All Nollywood movies and TV series on this list will be available via streaming platforms and cinemas.

Aburo –  May 1

Yemi Morafa kickstarts the Nollywood film experience for May with his coming-of-age drama, Aburo. When Aburo’s lightning-fast skills catch the eye of Mide, a former athlete, a journey of determination and destiny unfolds.

The film stars; Efa Iwara, Toni Tones, Maleek of ikorodu bois, Yemi Cregx, Charles Inojie, Wunmi Toriola, Peju Ogunmola, Gbemi Akinlade, Buchi Kings and Darasimi Nadi

Aburo is set for a cinema debut on the 1st of May, 2024. See the official trailer below

Postcards – May 3

This Nigerian/India crossover is directed by Hamisha Daryani Ahuja.

The feel-good drama is about a Nigerian single mother who travels to India for a medical checkup, her journey will end up touching the lives of everyone she meets.

The upcoming series will star Sola Sobowale, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Rajniesh Duggall, Rahama Sadau, Nancy Isime, and Tobi Bakre.

The show heads to Netflix on May 3, 2024.

Maia – May 8

Ego Nwosu stars opposite Mofe Duncan in ‘Maia’, a faith-based romantic drama that follows Maia’s quest to break a childhood curse and find love. Directed by Bem Pever,

‘Maia’ premieres on Prime Video on May 8.

Water and Garri – May 10

Tiwa Savage’s highly anticipated feature film debut will grace our screens this month.

The film follows Aisha (Tiwa Savage), an ambitious fashion designer who returns home after a decade of working in the elite fashion industry in the US. Aisha finds herself returning to a home drastically changed by time and chance. As she reconnects with family, old friends, and her past love, she must learn to live with her scars and confront the guilt she left behind.

Alongside Tiwa Savage, the drama also stars Mike Afolarin (“Far From Home”), Andrew Bunting (“Dynamite”), and Jemima Osunde (“New Money”).

Water and Garri will premiere on Prime Video on May 10.

Funmilayo Ransom-Kuti – May 17

Bolanle Austen-Peters drops her highly anticipated biopic this month.

A fearless female leader sparks a revolution against colonialism and patriarchy in Nigeria. Discover the untold story of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, mother of the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who forever changed the course of history.

Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti heads to cinemas on May 17, 2024.

UNO The F in Family – May 17

Emeka Njoku’s family drama is next on our list.

A young reunites with his estranged family after 10 years and rocks his entire dysfunctional family with his return. Starring: Nkem Owoh, Jennifer Eliogu, Alvin Abayomi, Tomi Ojo, Keezyto, Sophia Chisom and DJ Capello.

Coming to cinemas on May 17, 2024.

Kill Boro – May 30

Courage Obayuwana’s directorial debut is one of the Nollywood movies we look forward to this month.

Kill Boro tells the harrowing story of Elijah (Kosisochukwu Ogboruche), a young boy burdened by his father Boro’s (Philip Asaya) relentless brutality. Driven by desperation in the unforgiving streets of Azuama, Elijah seeks an unthinkable solution from a notorious gang leader (Gregory Ojefua). 

Kill Boro heads to Prime Video on May 30.

Criminal – May 31

This crime drama follows a criminal gang’s plight to get urgent health care for their fallen gang member.

Criminal is directed by Dolapo Adigun and written by Niyi Akinmolayan and stars Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Uzor Arukwe, Gbugbemi Ejeye, Chuks Joseph and Segun Arinze.

Criminal is coming to cinemas on May 31st.
