Here are the Nollywood movies set to be released this July.
Voltage – July 5
Directed by Fred Amata and produced by Ngozi Nglabelle, the film delves into the hardships faced by Tega, portrayed by Olumide Oworu, amidst Nigeria’s economic struggles worsened by a catastrophic power outage. As Tega grapples with personal tragedy, he uncovers unsettling family ties to organized crime in the energy sector.
Determined to confront the global oil cartels responsible, Tega embarks on a perilous journey of justice and redemption.
The film features an ensemble cast including Kate Henshaw, Linda Osifo, Segun Arinze, Kelvin Ikeduba, White Money, Keppy Ekpeyong, Jude Chukwuka, Aaron Sunday, Rotimi Adelegan, Ricardo Agbor, and Sunny McDon.

What About Us – July 12
Emmanuel Iren, founder of Celebration Church International, makes his debut as a film producer with What About Us. Directed by Kayode Kasum and produced by Emmanuel Iren, the film delves into the complexities of marriage through the intertwined narratives of two Christian couples.
The film follows one couple’s uphill battle to preserve their relationship amid mounting challenges. As marital issues escalate, the wife finds solace in an unexpected friendship with their neighbor.
Starring Kunle Remi, Uzor Arukwe, Folu Storms, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, Marycolette Unamka, Teniola Aladese, and Seyi Awolowo, “What About Us” promises a gripping exploration of love, fidelity, and the intricacies of human connections. The film is set to premiere exclusively in cinemas on July 12.
The Beads – July 12
The first Nigerian version of “Happy Death Day”? We’re here for it. Produced by Akinbayo Morakinyo and directed by Moyinoluwa Ezekiel.
The story revolves around a bride-to-be who finds herself caught in a time loop on her wedding day, which repeatedly ends in her death.
Desperate to break the cycle and save her life, she must uncover the mystery behind the cursed beads she was gifted. This psychological thriller promises suspense and intrigue as the protagonist battles to turn back the hands of time.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Zainab Balogun, Shaffy Bello, Efa Iwara, Adedimeji Lateef, Idowu Phillips (Mama Rainbow), Segun Arinze, Chioma Omeruah (Chigul), Bimbo Manuel, Ronke Oshodi, Juliana Olayode, Tina Mba, Jammal Ibrahim, Bridgett Minsa, Stephanie Zibili, Caroline Igben, Temitope Aremu, and Damilola Omotoso.

The Man Died – July 14
Directed by Awam Amkpa and produced by Prof. Awam Amkpa, “The Man Died” is an adaptation of Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka’s memoir. The film delves into Soyinka’s profound reflections during a tumultuous period as a political prisoner in Nigeria, particularly during the Nigerian Civil War.
Starring Wale Ojo, Sam Dede, Nobert Young, and others, the movie promises to provide a gripping cinematic experience, capturing the essence of Soyinka’s narrative and historical context.
The film is scheduled for release on July 14, coinciding with Wole Soyinka’s 90th birthday anniversary. It is produced under the banner of Zik Zulu Film.
Wrong Number – July 19
Directed by Uche Chukwu and co-produced by Lanre Lawal, Wrong Number tells the story of a man who is abducted by a gang due to a case of mistaken identity, all triggered by a wrong phone number. This suspenseful narrative explores the unexpected twists that arise from this mistake.

House of Ga’a – July 26
House of Ga’a is an action drama that delves into the life of Bashorun Ga’a, a prime minister and kingmaker in 18th-century Yoruba history. Known for his cunning strategies and mastery of “juju”, Ga’a wielded immense power, often surpassing the kings he served.
House of Gaa promises an enthralling biopic that explores the rise and eventual decline of Bashorun Ga’a, showcasing his complex character and the turbulent political landscape of his era.
The Nollywood film is directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters and produced by Joseph Umoibom and Bolanle Austen-Peters and features Seun Akindele, Jide J Blaze Oyegbile, Mike Afolarin, Femi Branch, Yemi Blaq, Stan Nze, Ibrahim Chatta, Gbenga Titiloye, Toyin Abraham, and Funke Akindele.
