Nigerian actress-producer Omoni Oboli and Canadian-based producer Patricia Bebia have officially launched NicaPro, a new Nigeria–Canada film partnership uniting Nollywood and Canadian cinema.
Announced via press releases and social media, NicaPro is designed to support collaborative production, talent development, and strategic partnerships between storytellers and financiers in both nations.
Strengthening Cross-Border Collaboration
According to the founders, NicaPro will serve as a platform for co-productions, skill exchange, and industry networking. The partnership seeks to give Nigerian filmmakers greater access to international markets and technical expertise, while providing Canadian creatives with a pathway to engage with African stories and talent.
Omoni Oboli, known for her work as an actor, director, and producer, said the goal of the partnership is to build practical links between both industries, enabling collaboration through training, joint productions, and exposure to global standards of film practice.
A Shared Vision for Growth
Bebia added that NicaPro intends to open doors for emerging talents across both countries by connecting them with funding bodies, production partners, and streaming platforms. She emphasized the importance of creating sustainable business models that reflect the growing international demand for African content.
The initiative aligns with broader efforts to boost African film exports and build international alliances that position Nollywood within the global entertainment landscape.
What’s Next
Further details about NicaPro’s first slate of collaborative projects are expected to be announced. Early conversations, according to the organizers, are underway with select Nigerian and Canadian production studios.
The launch marks another step in Nollywood’s growing international engagement and underscores the importance of cross-border partnerships in building a stronger, globally competitive African film economy.
