Martha Ehinome, known for her captivating performance as Tumi in the Showmax original series,
Wura, is making her debut executive produced film with Man of Her Dreams which recently
wrapped production.
The production which is now in its post-production phase is billed as Martha’s first executive
produced project after years embracing fictional characters from The Herbert Macaulay Affair,
Wura, The Origin: Madam Koi-Koi and others.
In the Moses Ipadeola-directed Man of Her Dreams, Naya, a woman in her late 20s, who’s been
yearning for love will meet Kene, a seemingly perfect man only to discover there’s more to his identity
and personality than she bargained for. This woman must choose between the forever love she’s always
yearned for and the frightening reality of a relationship where love, sanity, and reality blur.
The film is deftly directed by Ipadeola whose film Ekun Iyawo: A Tale of A Run Away Bride has
screened at various local and international film festivals to warm reception. Martha’s newly registered
production company, ME & Co serve as the Executive Producer and Emmanuel Izuoba, best known
as Assistant Producer and Director of Christmas in Lagos, and Martha Ehinome are credited as
producers.
The film jointly written by Martha and Gbolahan Akitunde will offer a meditative and insightful look
into yearning, choices and reality. The writing grounds itself on the story of Naya and Kene.
Man of Her Dreams is beautifully captured by Fadamana Okwong credited with The Artifact, A
Green Fever, In Ibadan, Fire and The Moth and other commercially successful and critically acclaimed
Nollywood titles. Joy Kadiri known for her work on Jade Osiberu’s Gangs of Lagos, Christmas in
Lagos and others handled the film’s Art direction and visual language.
“This project represents a defining moment for me creatively. I’ve told stories in different forms over
the years (through acting, my vlogs, & the small worlds I’ve built online) but bringing this story to the
screen is the actualisation of something I’ve wanted for a very long time,” said Martha.
“I’m glad this is the story that marks this chapter. It’s bold, it’s emotional, it’s layered, and it weaves in
things I love: our culture, our spirituality, the emotional realities we don’t always talk about, and an
intimacy that feels honestly African and very relatable.”
The film features incredible cross generational talents including Martha Ehinome, Vine Olugu who
played major roles. Ireti Doyle, Gbubemi Ejeye and Tosin Adeyemi bring their talents to the project,
creating a rich plethora of characters. These cast members carried the physicality of the film’s subject
matter and added, in varying degrees, further depth to the film.
