Here’s a Recap Of The Annual Filmone Exhibitors Showcase

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, FilmOne Entertainment convened key stakeholders from across the Nigerian film industry, including distributors, production houses, actors, and producers, for a press briefing. The event offered insights into the box office performance FilmOne Entertainment, Filmhouse and FilmOne Studios have achieved so far this year, alongside an exclusive preview of upcoming Nigerian film releases on the FilmOne distribution slate for the rest of 2025, as well as a first look at some major titles expected in 2026.

As announced by the CEO of FilmOne, Kene Okuwosathe, the Exhibitors Showcase is set to introduce the Outstanding Achievement Award. And for the first edition, Muyiwa Ademola was awarded for delivering one of 2025’s most successful films and inspiring audiences across Africa, with his movie Ori: The Rebirth. The feature is currently Nollywood’s highest-grossing movie for 2025, with a total of ₦419,570,525.

Nollywood movies to expect before the end of the year

3 Cold Dishes

According to the director Asurf Oluseyi, the story stemmed from a desire to tell stories about bold women. In this case, 3 Cold Dishes tells the story of Esosa, Fatouma, and Giselle, three women trafficked as teenagers who formed a deep bond in captivity. Two decades later, hardened by trauma but united by purpose, they reunite to launch a meticulously planned mission against the men who once owned their lives.

Shot in 3Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania, and the Benin Republic, the action-thriller sheds light on human trafficking, survival and revenge. The stunning cast features Osas Ighodaro, Wale Ojo, Femi Jacobs, Ruby Akubueze and Brutus Mfon.

3 Cold Dishes will debut across cinemas nationwide on November 7, 2025. Following its world premiere in London earlier this month.

War Lord: Olori Ogun

War Lord: Olori Ogun is directed by Adebayo Tijani, Abe Lanre, Tope Adebayo, and Odunlade Adekola. The film presents an indigenous tale centred on a formidable warlord, portrayed by Adekola, who defies a forbidden tradition in his quest to become king. This Yoruba epic explores powerful themes of bravery, loyalty, and the pursuit of power.

The clips shown teases alot of drama, blood shed and chaos. The cast includes Fathia Balogun, Toyin Abraham, Muyiwa Ademola, and Eniola Ajao.

War Lord : Olori Ogun will debut across cinemas nationwide on November 28, 2025

GrandPa Must Obey

Grandpa Must Obey is scheduled to premiere in cinemas nationwide on November 21, 2025. Directed by Chibuzor Afurobi, the film tells the story of a grieving grandfather who spirals into despair after the death of his wife, only to find renewed purpose — and possibly love again — when his grandchildren are taken hostage, forcing him to fight back and reclaim his life.

Kanayo O. Kanayo, Bimbo Akintola, Darasimi Nadi, Elvina Ibru, Yvonne Jegede, Fiyin Asenuga and Brutus Richard.

This is not a Nollywood Movie

This is Not a Nollywood Movie will premiere on December 5, 2025, as it kicks off the Nollywood December run. Directed by Wale Ojo and produced by Boma Akpofure.

The movie stars Ojo, Bimbo Akintola, Olumide Owuru, Hank Anuku, Julius Agwu, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Broda Shaggi, Sunny Micheal and Shatta Bandles.

Behind The Scenes

Directed by Funke Akindele and Tunde Olaoye who reunit after A Tribe Called Judah collaboration. During the exhibition she shared that the initial production for her 2025 December run was A Tribe Called Judah 2. And even screened four other stories before settling on Behind The Scenes

The synopsis reads; Aderonke Faniran also known as Ronky-Fella, a mother of two and a successful real estate mogul, is loved for her generosity. But as everyone around her groes to expect her kindness, she gives until there’s nothing left, neglecting herself in the process.

The cast includes, Ex-BBNaija stars Wanni and Handi who play Aderonke’s twin daughters and Iyabo Ojo who plays Aderonke’s best friend. Others include, Tobi Bakre, Scarlet Gomez, Uzor Arukwe, Uche Montana, Destiny Etiko, Ini Dima-Okojie, Adebowale Adebayo, Dele Odule and Ibrahim Chatta. 

Behind the Scene will debut across cinemas nationwide on December 12, 2025. But will hold an advanced screening in select cinemas on December 11, 2025. And proceed to other countries in Africa and Europe.

Oversabi Aunty

According to Toyin Abraham, Oversabi Aunty was inspired by the controversial label she received during Priscilla Ojo’s wedding earlier this year. The film also marks Abraham’s directorial debut on the big screen.

The story centres on a multicultural family whose daughter becomes entangled in the meddling of overzealous relatives determined to impose their customs and traditions. The official teaser promises a blend of chaos, drama, and humour.

The film features Toyin Abraham, Jemima Osunde, Tana Egbo-Adelana, and Mike Ezuruonye. Oversabi Aunty will have an advanced screening in select cinemas on December 18, 2025, ahead of its nationwide release on December 19, 2025.

Colours of Fire

Directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, under the Ant Hill production, Colours Of Fire  promises a deeply rooted cultural story. From it teaser it holds drama, action, romance and some mystery. The FilmOne Exhibitors audience are said to be the very first people to see the official teaser before it was released on Friday, October 17.

The cast includes Uzor Arukwe, Osas Ighodaro, Femi Branch, Gabriel Afolayan, Ibrahim Chatta and Mercy Aigbe.

The synopsis reads; When a warrior is sent out to hunt a beast believed to be unleashed by his clan’s rivals, he uncovers a darker truth and an unexpected connection. Now he must decide to protect his clan’s honor or risk everything for a forbidden love that could unite or doom their worlds.

Colours of Fire will debut across cinemas nationwide on December 26, 2025. As it officially closes the Nollywood box office run for 2025.

Some Nollywood Movies to expect in Q1 and Q2 of 2026

Everything Is New Again

To kick start the new year, Everything Is New Again tells a bold story of a much older lady finding love again. The movie is sad to still in production and would feature Mercy Aigbe as the lead, Olumide Owuru, and Ngozi Nwosu. Everything Is New Again will premiere on January 30, 2025.

The Call of Life

The feature is directed by Blessing Uzi, 2025 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award for Best Feature Film for Freedom Way. The Call of Life will debut on February 6, 2026.

Love & New Notes

With Love & New Notes, Timini Egbuson claims the Valentine box office season. After a good run last year with Ree Love, which recorded an impressive opening week of ₦95,077,149 and a total grossing of ₦356,824,175. The same team returns, with a collaboration yet again between Timini, FilmOne and Kayode Kasum.

Love & New Notes will debut across cinemas on February 13, 2026.

Mothers Of Chibok

Directed by Kachi Benson, who is well know for , Mothers Of Chibok is said to be a documentary. A story tied on untold stories of a gruesome experience.

Mothers Of Chibok will debut on February 27, 2026.

A Fisherwoman’s Dream

Laju Iren return’s to the cinemas with a bold and thought provoking story on woman. A Fisherwoman’s Dream will be released on March 6, 2025, being the women’s day celebration month.

EVI

EVI is a Musical that will be released on March 27, 2026. Written and directed by Uyoyou Adia, it tells the story of Evi Oghene Donalds. A talented Afrobeats star whose world comes crashing when her record label drops her without any compensation.

Iyami

No detail asides from its release date slated for May 29, 2026 was announced.

The Other Side of the Bridge

It tells the story of two boxers who come from different parts of Lagos (Island and Mainland). They battle it out in the ultimate chamionship game while being faced with other personal issues.

Directed by Fiyin Gambo, the cast includes Bawo, Tobi Bakre, Olarotimi Fakunle, Mike Afolarin, Teniola Aladese, Femi Branch, William Bensonand Taye Arimoro.

The Other Side of the Bridge will be released across cinemas on April 17, 2025. Following its world premiere at the 2024 African International Film Festival.
