In Her Shoes, a Nigerian short film co-produced by FlyGrade Media and Negodu Media Africa, is making waves on the international festival front with its powerful story on autism, empathy, and resilience.
So far, the film has secured major festival nominations, including a competition berth for Best Short Film at the Silicon Valley African Film Festival (California, USA), one of the most prestigious showcases of African cinema in the diaspora. It also screened at the Power24 International Film Festival (South Africa) and recently joined the official lineup of the Uhvati Film Festival for Disability (Serbia), a global platform amplifying disability narratives.
At the helm is debut director Ella Chikezie, praised for her authentic and tender storytelling, alongside producer Precious Iroagalachi, whose sharp execution has earned the duo recognition as a rising Nollywood power team. According to them, “In Her Shoes is more than a film; it’s a mirror of empathy and resilience… “It proves that powerful stories thrive when artists and communities work with purpose.”

Anchored by a standout performance from Darasimi Nadi as Halima, the cast also features Nadia Dutch, Emmanuel Adex, and Imoh Eboh. Cinematography by Adeniyi Joseph-Omobulejo, who captures both the intimacy of Halima’s journey and the bustling vibrancy of Lagos. Receives support from a strong technical crew across editing, sound, and design.

The film also received a grant from Tricom Productions, further validating its cultural significance. Back home, In Her Shoes will screen at the Nigerian International Film Summit (NIFS) on Wednesday, August 27, at 2:00 PM at Filmhouse Cinemas, The Palms, Lekki.
