
Editi Effiong, the founder of Anakle Films, returns as both writer and director for The Black Book 2: Old Scores, a sequel to the 2023 action thriller The Black Book. This film is a revenge action thriller that set records worldwide. Nicholas Weinstock, an Emmy-winning producer, joins him in the production.
The first film, The Black Book, released on Netflix on September 22, 2023, is a crime thriller directed and produced by Editi Effiong in his feature directorial debut. The movie, made on a $1 million budget, reached No. 3 on Netflix’s global charts in 2023 and appeared as part of the top 10 in over 69 countries, and accumulated more than 20 million views worldwide.

The story draws its background from Nigeria’s history of military rule, police brutality, and government corruption. It will explore themes of justice, societal unrest in contemporary Nigeria, and redemption.
It stars Richard Mofe-Damijo as Paul Edima. The feature picks up where Black Book ended, with Paul Edima, a former military guerrilla, whose past resurfaces after the unjust killing of his son, continues his fight against the corrupt system, exploring justice, redemption, and societal issues in present-day Nigeria.
The anticipated Sequel pulled talent from all over the world, like China, Japan, the UK, the US, and Nigeria, with at least 300 crew members participating in its filming, which took place in the Niger Delta region
The cast includes Richard Mofe Damijo, Kate Henshaw, Shaffy Bello, Bright Okpocha, Alex Usifo, Enwongo Wongi Ibom, Chidi Ajufo, Ayobami Awe, Zack Amata, William Benson, Masami Kosaka, Rick Kieswetter, Soibifaa Dokubo, Sola Fosudo, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, and others.
The filming wrapped up in late 2025 and is now in post-production, but no release date, platform, or distribution for The Black Book 2 has been announced so far.
