Nigeria’s creative footprint continues to expand on the global stage. As three filmmakers prepare to attend the Red Sea Souk Project Market, the co-production platform of the Red Sea International Film Festival. Which will take place from December 6 to 10 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
This year, the industry once again steps into the prestigious Souk. A meeting ground for filmmakers from Asia, Africa, and the Arab world to secure investments and build international collaborations. The market covers three main areas. The projects in development and production, works-in-progress titles, and series developed through the Red Sea Labs Series Lab. Nigeria’s participation spans across all these categories.
In the Series Lab, writer Tomi Folowosele and producer Orire Nwani will present Till Death Do Us Part. A supernatural psychological thriller rooted in Nigerian culture and mythology. The project has entered a key development stage as it evolves into a globally pitch-ready TV series.
In the Projects-in-Development and Production section, filmmaker Cheta Chukwu will showcase To Catch A Falling Sky. A Nigerian-UK co-production produced by Sheila Nortley. The film explores complex human themes while bridging creative collaboration between both countries. In April, Cheta was selected for the Red Sea Lodge 2025 by the Red Sea Labs. For his war drama Love Is a Deeper Shade of Red.
Meanwhile, filmmaker CJ ‘Fiery’ Obasi will present La Pyramide in the Works-in-Progress section. A co-production between Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Senegal, and the United States. In La Pyramide, he celebrates the beauty and complexity of dark-skinned bodies, exploring identity and representation within global cinema.
These selections show the continuous growth of Nigerian filmmakers and Nigerian films continue to enjoy across the globe. As the Red Sea Funding gives African’s as well as other continents the opportunity for guidance, funding and promotion from start to finish.
