Avante, a new Nollywood thriller produced and directed by acclaimed Nigerian filmmaker Toka McBaror, showcases his captivating visual style and strong storytelling. The film explores themes of ambition, betrayal, and the personal cost of pursuing dreams, reflecting McBaror’s artistic style.
What happens when a quest for vengeance evolves into a complicated romance with the killer’s daughter? This is the gripping story of Avante. It follows Gaju, a man consumed by a desire for revenge, who disguises himself as Albert, a humble farmhand, to infiltrate the estate of the man responsible for his parents’ death. However, his mission becomes complicated when he falls in love with the killer’s daughter, leading him to face a moral dilemma between seeking revenge and finding redemption.
The film features a strong ensemble cast, including award-winning actor Chimezie Imo, celebrated for his acclaimed performance in The Breath of Life, alongside Kingsley Okafor, known for his role in the drama series Marriage Stunts. These two plays lead casts in this project.
Veteran actor Eddie Watson also takes part in this production. He is recognized for his roles in The Waiter. Completing the ensemble is Cameroonian producer and actress Ruth Nkweti, renowned for her performances in Ejiro’s Lust and Last Tango in Abuja. All this casts together tell a story that contributes meaningfully to the evolving narrative of Nollywood storytelling across the global stage.
The film’s official premiere is scheduled for March 29, 2026, followed by its nationwide cinema release on April 3, 2026.
