Plot

‘Money Miss Road’ follows Josiah and Joseph, who have a chance encounter with a local criminal kingpin that sets them up for a life of luxury and misery as the rat race for survival ensues. The storyline is straightforward with no competing plotl ines, making it easy to watch. Unfortunately, this also means we don’t get much insight into the characters and their motivations, making it difficult to connect with them.

Story

This is a typical Nollywood comedy with over-the-top jokes and a storyline that has been done before, but it still manages to raise questions. Joseph stumbles upon a stash of money and, after escaping with it, immediately starts spending lavishly with Josiah, knowing full well that the rightful owner will come looking for it. The resolution, where Joseph simply goes to the police and the villain gets arrested, feels rushed and far too convenient.

Ultimately, the film ends with Joseph and Josiah losing all the money, but rather than feeling like a clever twist, it just comes across as an underwhelming conclusion.

Performances

Jidekene Achufusi delivers a natural and engaging performance as Joseph, bringing energy to the humour in the script. Josh 2 Funny, playing Josiah, doesn’t do anything new—he sticks to his usual comedic skit persona, which works in some moments but feels repetitive.

Charlyboy Oputa, as Diokpa, is genuinely menacing and feels like someone you should be genuinely afraid of. On the other hand, Victoria Daniel, who plays Jennifer, doesn’t deliver a convincing performance, making her one of the weaker links in the cast although she only has. a brief appearance.

Technical Aspects

One of the stronger points of the film is its cinematography, with some interesting camera angle choices, particularly in the two well-executed fight scenes. The soundtrack is effective in building tension and enhancing comedic moments, though it doesn’t bring anything particularly fresh or inspired to the film.

Final Thoughts

The movie starts abruptly with a fight scene, which feels a little disjointed. There’s also a noticeable issue with casting—Josiah’s wife looks significantly older than him, and even their kids don’t seem to match up with his character. The film tries to address this by having Josiah remind Joseph he is older than him, but visually, it’s hard to believe.

These inconsistencies are distracting, though the chemistry between the leads somewhat makes up for it.

Verdict

‘Money Miss Road’ is an all-too-familiar tale that doesn’t bring anything new to the table. While the humour and performances make it somewhat entertaining, the predictable storyline and lacklustre ending leave you feeling like you’ve just lost an hour and thirty minutes.
